There are pros and cons and I am not personally against it, but...

It would be a tough sell at the moment when the Greens are pushing the Government hard on fossil fuels.

Who will sell gas to the East Coast? I had a brief chat with someone from Squadron back in May. I asked when work on the Port Kembla Import Terminal was due to start, said no start date at this point. I asked if any GSA's were in place, answer, no, So presuming it goes ahead, which I think it will, they will by their gas from someone in the west. Geelong is way behind Port Kembla so not really in the picture at this point. There was an application put in for Hastings but the Victorian Government rejected it on environmental grounds. The terminal would have been a couple of km from the Penguin colonies (read "tourism $$$) so not completely surprised on that one.
