Large SYD holder UniSuper (which will have a place still on the register if there's a takeover) has said 'things have changed' and essentially believes A$9 a share is unrealistic (oddly, but honestly, it suggests a lower price is warranted).

On Saturday 17 July, it's no longer school holidays, and such Saturdays are usually quiet (particularly during afternoons) in 'normal' times but due to the SYD and Melbourne lockdowns,

QAN is operating just one B737-800 flight to the latter today, and only two Q400 70-seater turboprop flights, one to Canberra and one to Ballina NSW.

Having only three QAN 'red tail' flights ex SYD domestically must be some sort of (lowest) record, apart from days such as in 2011 when Mr Joyce locked the staff out at 1700 on a Saturday afternoon, or the c.1989 pilots' strike.

There will be a few QAN freight flights internationally, but no QAN overseas passenger flights as it isn't running any, although competitor AIZ has one from SYD to AIZ mid afternoon.

Subsidiary Jetstar has one flight from SYD to Melbourne, and another to Proserpine, Qld. That's it.

Competitor Virgin Australia has one each to Cairns, Launceston and Melbourne.

The other main competitor REX doesn't seem to be operating any flights ex SYD on Saturday 17.

So among all the airlines, just seven domestic passenger flights depart SYD today.

Not helpful to any bid for SYD even if bidders consider the longer term.
