With QAN and subsidiary Jetstar operating (in total) fewer than 20 flights from SYD airport tomorrow, a few of which in the 'red tail' case are only turboprops, the July 2021 domestic passenger figures for SYD will be very low.
Tomorrow, QAN 'red tails' will depart SYD for Melbourne just twice (1100 and 1700 hours). Usually there'd be at least 35 such flights on this most heavily patronised of all Oz domestic air routes. Jetstar only has one flight to Cairns and another to Launceston. Nothing to Melbourne! One can't make this stuff up.
Virgin Australia (second iteration) is also cancelling a large number of flights while as announced a few days ago, REX's Boeing 737-800 aircraft are all (temporarily) stabled, such is the low number of eligible travellers between say SYD and Melbourne.
