The Potential Benefit for the company if the ongoing processing work proves successful at Pilot Scale is MASSIVE !
The previous flowsheet is shown in the top image below. It resulted in a multi-stage process that yielded overall recovery of 53% (66.5 Benefication & 79.6% HydroMet). The Process Plant had a CAPEX of ~US$400m & a higher OPEX given the multi-staged process.
The exact details of the Process Flowsheet the company is now pursuing and will be in Pilot Scale next quarter is a real game changer (if successful) not only for Infinity, but any up and coming lithium miner (Some of the details was explained in the announcement on the 18th November 2021).
The Direct Leach method, cuts out multiple stages of the process flowsheet and in Stage 1 Lab Tests has managed to achieve recoveries averaging ~65% (A 22% improvement on the previous methodology).
The real benefits for the company will be: - CAPEX for the plant would be slashed by nearly half from the previous US$400m - OPEX of the new flowsheet significantly reduced - 22% Better Recoveries - Much Smaller Footprint needed for the Plant - Patented Process could be sold to other Lithium Juniors looking to reduce CAPEX + OPEX
