Im a big fan of batteries, but at this pointthey’re just not feasible without some sort of funding assistance (utility scalebatteries that is).
I like IFN’s SA battery, and like you mention,NSW would be a good next step (IMO would need a grant of some sort still), butBESS or PH in QLD for me is still a no.
You talk about market returns, but forward wholesalecontracts are trading 18%/17% higher in NSW for Cal 20 and 21 respectively, 43%/23%in VIC, and 38%/23% in SA.
To get assets off the ground it’s highlyunlikely you could do so just by aiming at the merchant highs, you need aportion of contract length for the banks to get comfortable fronting the money.
Contracts are often referenced to wholesale (ASX)forwards, and there’s a hell of a lot more margin in the other 3 NEM regions…
