Wind and solar are very close on cost. They are highly complimentary, as the wind blows when the sun don't shine.
The difference is, solar is dispersed on many rooftops, many players - who have taken on solar for non-economic reasons. Wind generation is highly concentrated in a few rational players. IMHO, this is where the money is in the shift to renewables. Happy to debate this if others have a different view.
