It is definitely hard to feel positive about him- has been for a long time and especially now. Having said that, personally I’m happy to wait to see what happens over the next few months (4DS is all about waiting after all… and by ‘happy’ I of course mean “I’m fuming at recent events, but will wait to see what explanation is proffered - if any”).
Ultimately PL4 success happened under DM’s watch. Drs Van der Broek didn’t really bring much to the table despite having the technical know how and industry insider card. Though he did bring accountability from Guido regarding the PL3 stuff up (which in the end maybe wasn’t as big a stuff up as we were initially told) and also did a solid AGM Q&A with online streaming.
Poor communication has been the MO since the imec agreement was first forged back when JD was chairman.
The thing that bugs me is that whilst the paucity of communication around the technical side was flagged by JD as being a necessity of working with imec, the lack of clarity regarding road maps and overall strategy has never been explained or justified.
Van den Broek stated at an AGM that exact speed, endurance etc etc would never be released to the general market. Then PL4 saw much more info announced on these metrics than he had suggested we’d ever see. It’s like they had a little think and realised the market needed something after all.
but then back to radio silence since then.
It is hurting badly to think of all the times we could have de-risked at good prices. It’s tempting to do what others have done and just sell at a loss… but for now I am going to wait and see what happens with PL5 (if they tell us), PL6 (which I’m not exactly feeling positive about in terms of chances of overwhelming success) and the looming CR (which I am also not feeling great about given recent events)
