    I’ve settled on ARG as the backbone of my portfolio, backed up by a decent holding in MIR (sister company to AFI) for ex ASX 50 exposure, along with small stakes in a handful of individual holdings.

    I settled on ARG because it has a wide spread of large and mid cap holdings, and it has a ‘flatter’ portfolio than the other large cap LICs (relatively less exposure to the big four banks, BHP and CSL). Personal choice for sure, but I’m happy to be less concentrated in those names.

    Regarding super funds, I remember when Sun Super pretty much got rid of their internal investment team and went largely passive (Vanguard, but now moved to State Street). Part of their argument at the time was the costs associated with employing top flight active managers, and ensuring they don’t jump ship to another mob who would offer even more dollars.
