You don't need to state when or how you bought shares as you become a director.
What you do need to do is upon becoming a director declare any shares you had at that date. Clearly the family trust considered Core to be a good investment and at some stage in the past bought 30,000 shares. This could have been two weeks ago. It could have been 2-5 years ago.
