He is joining as 'non-executive director'.
He doesn't get involved in the front line business decisions. Just there to give advice from time to time.
Often times than not, non-exec serves more than one company so his attention is not 100% on one company.
It is far-fetched to think someone who has previous M&A experience joining as non-exec to magically make the M&A deal.
To balance my view, if someone was to make an offer, then his experience will come valuable than not having anyone with M&A experience on board.
