You can sell them before hand at any price , as long as you can find a buyer.
Only if you want to convert them to a fully paid share, you need the price to be at 0.009 to recoup your money. If you paid current price of 0.003 and than exercised the strike price 0.006
Some people will buy and try to flip for a pip and then not have to stump up the exercise price.
