Great to see that this new Director already has shares. It'd be pleasing if during the next three to four months he increased it about four-fold, or even five-fold.

From biographical details in the complementary thread, this gent not only operates dairy farms in the 'newish' highly productive BGA area of southwest Victoria, but also has professional qualifications including accountancy.

Having once travelled to Port Fairy in the 1980s when that wonderful rail line was still open beyond Dennington (Vic), one daresays that in the 35 years since, productivity of dairy farms has hugely risen.

Rural media keeps claiming that dairyfarmers are leaving the subsector in droves. What the reporters never state is whether some of this is driven by consolidation of farms into larger landholdings, rather than say expansion of urban areas with new homes that would mean the end of dairying in a location.

Even if one can jest he's from the 'wrong' part of Ireland - still lovely though, and enjoyable to visit - he should make an excellent addition. Love the hands-on experience irrespective as to whether he has sharefarmers doing the physical hard yards required in dairying of rising with the sparrows.

Having Directors in geographically differing supplier districts is helpful, particularly when majority Australian-owned BGA competes ferociously for finite and fairly stagnant milk supply against Canadian Saputo (a truly 'woke' company - look at how it buckled to idiots in renaming Coon Cheese) and Fonterra from socialist NZ.

This new Board addition is joining when climatic conditions in much of southeast and lower eastern Australia are pretty much ideal, although extensive severe flooding in parts sadly hurt dairyfarmers who may not all be BGA suppliers. No bushfires to speak of in Victoria over summer, and rain again forecast to keep pastures growing in the lower termperatures and subdued sunlight of a southern autumn.
