Response to PJL 100
Not really. Good to see though not totally unexpected.
I hadn't considered what would be found just that:
- Arguably all carbonatites found in this northern section of the West Arunta have at least some high grade patches. WA1 have Luni and P2. ENR have 6 zones (so far), some may be connected.
- Joyce was a confirmed carbonatite discovery but shallow, wide spaced 2024 drilling reported only lowish Nb2O5 grades (max 6m @ 0.4%).
- Given the size of the Joyce target some zone or zones were likely to have higher grade. The first 2025 drilling tagged one such zone at the west end.
- Geophysics and reported logging suggests this zone is closing off to the west. Expect some more AC drilling to confirm this. Further to the east of Joyce structures and geophysics offer more targets - see regional target map in announcement.
- PXRF and logging almost certainly helped to expedite the end of hole samples for hole 1013 and probably encouraged the drilling of all sites prepared in 2025 plus the eastern line set up in 2024.
- This latter drilling was a slight hint that Joyce may be coming to join the interesting Carbonatite party at West Arunta.
The Joyce carbonatite and associated mineralisation does reinforce the potential for the West Arunta area. Add in P2 30 or so kilometers to the west, and a probable Tier 1 Niobium resource at Luni and the area will likely see decades of exploration if production is forthcoming from known resources.
One end of hole intersection combined with the constraints of previous wide spaced drilling suggests, to me, another discovery akin to previous ones by ENR. Narrow, linear, dyke/lithology controlled with local high grades but with perhaps marginal, at best, economics as stand alone deposits or even as part of a hub and spoke operation by ENR. Too early to be certain and needs way more analysis than gut feel

Not impossible but IMO difficult to see what ENR has found, so far, not becoming satellite mining operations to the main one at Luni.

In the MRE announcements from WA1 is the mention of Karst topography. Most commonly associated with limestone, but carbonatite by definition is 50+% carbonate and given the right conditions will likely weather/erode along the lines of limestone.
Why mention this?
The depth of cover in hole 1013 is deep.
Mechanisms to produce this.This link does focus on limestone but, probably, with variations to carbonatite.
- preferential weathering of carbonatite.
- Karst formation being one variant of this. Encountered at Luni.
- Erosion along structures by ancient drainages.
- combination of the above?
- Alien mining of Nb??? ....well LOL
