I think as it's promoting products to parents for their kids the advertising can hit the target much easier thus be worth more. Yes kids are unique but I think their differences are very subtle and small. Making it easier for TNY to figure out exactly who they are.
compare that to social networks for adults where you have people ranging from knitting enthusiasts to big game hunters for example.
