Just to present another view on the investment merit of SELF.

This is very expensive for an ETF. Looking at the quoted backtested returns for the index SELF will track, it does not really stand up well against Aussie large cap ETFs like A200, VAS or MVW (included because it also uses an equal weight methodology). Most of SELFs holdings are in common with the ASX200.

Yes, there may be times that SELF may outperform these others, but remember that the numbers below for SELF is not including fees, whereas the other figures are. Net of fees, it doesn't look great.


Remember, as an investor, you cannot control a fund managers performance. But you can control the fees you expose yourselves to.

Not everyone that chooses to take on SELF will have the same view. But, just saying.
