The Government never consults us little people when they put GST or Income Tax up. They just shove it up and walk away with a smug grin. Especially outside of election years.

In fact the only times I remember seeing Tax proposals successfully challenged was Margaret Thatcher's Poll Tax (due to it causing huge riots and unrest) and Scomo's infamous Backpacker Tax (which pissed off not just backpackers but the farming industry, the National Coalition partners, the Greens and One Nation and got substantially reduced so it could get through the Senate).

However I would not be surprised if despite everything SGR still had paid industry lobby groups and friends in high places to put pressure on the NSW government to moderate its tax proposal.
