Been following this thread for a while as I used to own TRS and viewed the "store closing" comments with interest. No doubt closing down unprofitable outlets is a standard practice that almost always makes sense. I'm not close enough to this business to know exactly how each store is going but I suspect the world of the $2 shop is a little different. With tiny margins I think their results would be a lot to do with how well they buy (even more so that any other business). They need to buy large to get the best price and to get the first offer on what may often be limited production runs / opportunities. In broad terms the more outlets there are the more potential turnover there is and the smaller the risk is when they buy big to get the best price.
I'm pretty sure when Roscoe had his job interview he would have talked about his plan which involved a large store rollout and the purchasing power that would ensue and then onto the resulting profit etc.
Store closures suggest his plan hasn't worked / isn't working and I'm sure that's not something he's prepared to concede at this stage.
So my guess is that your store closing wish isn't going to come true although these guys really need to stop and look at their lack of success and some hard decisions need to be made.
