Why?
What is the valuation relevance of the book value of a business of this kind, particularly when the earnings it generates are unable to realistically support such a book value, in terms of Return on Capital compared to the Cost of Capital?
If the Return on Capital is less than the company's Cost of Capital, then the equity value of the business is being reduced.
So why would anyone pay the equivalent of book value when that book value is being diminished?
