All deals are tendered to the highest bidder.
Favoritism doesn't exist in business dealings.
The betting agencies can predict their earnings vs. advertising outlay.
This is a high risk and high return scenario.. management obviously want to gain traction in the US.
I am not doubting their method, it's an aggressive deal that may or may not pay off.
One guarantee is that there is a tonne of competition in the betting industry and usually the big guys (Draftkings) dominate.
It happens here, the first business that comes to mind if you think of online betting... Sportsbet.
