Hi huge, My understanding was the Eskom contracts calls for a lower calorific valued coal. The coal currently produced is higher than specs of contract( i'm sure there is reference to this in one of the co. reports)hence the need to blend down. Normally higher quality coal is good but i believe the problem for the SA power producers is the lack of maitenance on their plants which, if you have your boilers burning to hot due to better coal means a lot more problems to overcome and reduced life in your boiler equipment. cheers roidz,
