Do you remember the scoping study GAL released for the oxide ore? It was basically the same as the GSR/CNJ PFS, however the ore was beneficiated giving an overall recovery of 72% Co and 34.5% Ni ( JV 74% and 22%). This would be less ore through the leach circut and less reagents. The JV looked at beneficiating but decided on 100% of ore throughput.
GAL also looked at HPAL but decided it was too expensive and other possible problems.
HPAL plants are approx au$1billion plus, have a look at ARL,SRL and AUZ.

I should have included in my last post regarding the ore beneficiation in the GAL scoping study.
The bene step reduces the ore feed to the leach circut by 50% by removing the fines. This would mean less reagents and importantly less water, smaller tailings dam.
I think the bene step could be important, unfortunately GAL has not done any further studies that I can find.
