Here is a fairly recent - 4 April this year - backgrounder of the microbiome sector, including trends and major players. It is from Catenion, which is a management consultancy outfit that works the biotech space. Microba gets a couple of mentions but is not listed as a serious competitor. Worth remembering that Microba only completed its listing on the ASX on the day this youtube clip was put out and has been meeting milestones since then.

Interesting that in the youtube clip they argue that the way forward for microbiome therapeutics will be metabolites, not the gut microbes themselves. The other thing that stood out to me is that the field of microbiome therapeutics has been underwhelming in that there has not really any successes and there have been a couple of abject failures. A positive spin on that is even though Microba is clearly late to the party - Microba's first phase 1 study is not until the end of the calendar year whereas a number of competitors are already into phase 2 and 3 studies - no-one yet has won the lucky door prize. So Microba is still in with a chance of cracking the first product in this discipline that can be commercialised.
