I posted a succinct explanation below my own text in that post which was extracted from a source which I though described the process best (no point reinventing the wheel). It is not ambiguous, it is fact and something people should be aware of if they don't know already as it is useful when coming to decisions about exploration programs, not just here but across the board. Knowing the difference between primary ore and supergene ore and the processes by which supergene ores are formed and preserved is important if you're following exploration plays.
