Agree that it can be viewed as pumping by a director (let alone one who has bought shares in market recently), and the impact of a director communicating directly with shareholders in this manner has the potential to severely backfire and land officeholders in hot water including private lawsuits and class action. It doesn't matter if the comments seem innocent, the measure will be how an ordinary shareholder may perceive unofficial comments and how those perceptions may influence individual investors and the market. ASIC and ASX will crack down on social media and potential influence on markets in the future though.
