You have touched on the issue that personally gives me some misgivings about the IAM implementation methodology. I have observed a large number of ERP installs at close quarters and the one factor all of the most successful had in common was: accepting and adopting the vendor's model of best practice.

The biggest failures occurred when the customer insisted on substantial modification because "we are different".

Not saying IAM can't tailor to meet the individual needs of different fp's, but beyond doubt that approach involves significantly greater resources, which will have to stretch a new business in recruiting mode.

Over time it would be logical for IAM to insist upon predominately standard templates for most practices, but would still no doubt be under massive pressure to provide points of differentiation from majors.

Certainly not a showstopper, but nonetheless a challenge.
