We need to read deeper - Ross said

"Whilst the core orientation process does not affect the drilling rates, geo-technical measurements (of the orientated core) are an exacting and time consuming process under the prevailing weathering conditions and must be completed prior to core logging and sampling".

Now that would not be the case if drilling thru bedded limestone - meaning they are having to measure and log the thickness and orientation of all the veins and mantos that have been intersected. And that is exactly the kind of result Dr Jonathan expected we would get on initial drilling.
