You know, the answer to if this is a genuine announcement or not is in the announcement itself.
How do you test for gas and for CCS potential at the same time? The gas is either there or it isn't and CCS is worth a fraction of the EV of a producing gas well.
This tells me that they have no clue.
They are saying: We will drill for gas (like we did last time) but if there is no gas (like last time), we might be able to use it for CCS.
Of course, that is perfectly feasible except, why would you use an offshore depleted reservoir for CCS when you have a multitude of onshore depleted wells available?
Clearly you don't need an independent expert to opine on the prospectivity for CCS in a depleted reservoir!

Please, spare me. No, I take that back, I only check this thread for a laugh and it never fails to deliver.
