Other gold companies in Australia have turned on (or at least begun development) using old open pits for pumped water storage batteries with solar powered pumps. What I find questionable with this proposal is that they want to use solar energy in Nova Scotia. How much sun will they get in winter at this northern latitude at the very time of year that power demands peak and when storage systems are most valuable? Germany decided some years ago that solar power was not an effective solution for renewable energy for them, because of low solar energy during winter (maybe that is why the ground freezes in Nova Scotia?).

Oh well, they have plenty of millions on hand to spend and they are no good at managing gold mines, and so I guess they may as well spend some of it on consultant fees to study this idea.
