Found another smallish investment company - Ryder ASX:RYD. For the last 3 years RYD's SP increased from $1.26 to $1.79 - an increase of 42% compared with NGE's -0.7%. RYD has a similar 'absolute return' investment philosophy.
This is before paying a total 14 cents/share fully franked dividends over that period. excluding the franking, adding 14 cents to the $1.79 current SP gives a total return for RYD of 53%. RYD also have a shareholding in VTG. And RYD is not internally managed.
These guys (NGE) are seriously behind in the comparative stakes. Lack of corporate governance in NGE is a serious issue. No big stick. Nothing to regulate the salaries of management or any alignment with shareholders' interests.
