Not a good move IMHO shorting banks when interest rates are rising. ? Higher margins and when the fixed rates are due to roll over.?
. sure finance companies and brokers will get a share of the new loans but the banks are likely to double their margins ! The "not being a good move" is reinforced by the strongly rising SP of the banks over the last few days. CDM seems to get out of one "pickle" and into another. The Cadence opportunities fund has only lost its SP since it floated with Extremely thin trading and no real opportunity to exit. I should have taken my own advice not to get into LICs at the float. I thought that as CDO was an extreme long short fund, that they would be relishing these volatile conditions. It appears that they are just not suited to picking their shorts !
SP has risen off its absolute lows, but seems to have gone virtually nowhere recently ! One step forward and (at least) one step back !
