@VinP......I find your comment “does or has anyone put any pressure on CDM to do something ?” interesting.
Many investors pay a lot of attention to the SP discount to NAV as an apportunity. But that opportunity is only there IF the SP rises due to the success of the investment manager to close the gap, and that gap does in fact, close. If it doesn’t, it’s still a gap. We (unfortunately) had confidence in the manager of Cadence and put our money where our mouth was. For me anyway, that confidence was misplaced and they have been a rather spectacular failure for a number of reasons. As @garrye has said, “professionals” and the investment managers of CDM should be doing SO much better.
BUT, you have placed your confidence (or misplaced confidence) as I have, in the management style of Karl Seigerling and CDM and apart from that as a mere shareholder, we have little say, and what we think has no weight at all in telling an investment manager what they should or shouldn’t do. That’s the problem, invest in the fund and have faith in the manager...... or have no faith and sell your shares.
Unless you are more highly qualified than the person you speak to at Cadence, then the “pressure” you attempt to place on the investment strategy of CDM is going to be substantially ignored.
