"buy-back is potentially on the cards...requests to him by large holders"

Large holders requesting a buy-back is a good sign to me. It suggests that they see the SP as cheap, but may not have the cash or flexibility to buy more, so they want a buy-back instead. Because of the low SP, they see a buy-back as even more beneficial than dividends (and the dividend yield is already high).

Or they could be wanting to offload some into the buy-back...but hopefully not. I expect it's because the SP is cheap, not to help them offload.
