Yep, I hear ya. I get it though.... any shareholder here would be happy right now with today's action. Good gains. I just personally can't accept that a basic service like providing electricity to citizens is a money making venture for shareholders, so I don't own shares. (I'm a nuclear kinda guy as you can tell ) Allll those people on low incomes that couldn't afford to buy AGL shares if they wanted to, are all suffering with huge power price increases. Perhaps some might say, "it's not AGL's fault, it's the government's". Sure, I get that too. They (as in previous governments who also have to be held to account) have done a pretty poor job for Australians. No gas reservation on the East coast in a classic screw up example.
Retailers are the face of all this though and when people see (or perceive) fat profits while they decide between eating or heating tonight, it's a difficult social pill to swallow.
