The tech play in terms of 'better technology' than Nearmap is all good, if customers want it.
The reality is, the offering is already out there for companies that want to buy it, such as accurate 3D or elevation data for instance.
The problem is that it's expensive and/or time consuming, or out of date.
Regarding Stuart Nixon, I assume you're hinting at Spookfish tech....
They announced the potential to fly high altitude covering larger areas, good elevation data etc. in their roadmap this is still a long time away.
Nearmap have already announced the release of their new camera system, which already allows Nearmap to capture improved data such as accurate elevation, 3D and the ability to capture huge areas - check their announcement.
So, Nearmap are already ahead of the Spookfish roadmap.
If Nearmap's customers, and target markets want additional data, and if them not having it means it will hurt Nearmap's revenues, I'm sure Nearmap will stay ahead of potential competitors and will adapt their technology to meet such customer requirements.
