I've done some investigating. Everyone knows that banks (esp NAB) have had major problems with their IT. In the brief IV with DWS CEO mentioned in earlier thread, Danny Wallis notes that banks are still using outdated 'cobalt' technology and DWS are targetting growth in the financial sector (i.e. banks). The recent company update confirms DWS's sucess in growing work in this important sector. I say 'important' because banks have huge IT systems, and they have huge amounts of money, and they simply have no option but to update their systems. Hence, i rang DWS several days ago. They confirmed company has won a substantial contract with NAB and the wk will last 'at least 2 years'. A friend who works in NAB told me that most of the IT renewal is being done by the 'big companies' such as IBM. However, he confirmed DWS have part of the contract. Hence, am unsure how big DWS's role actually is.... but for a small company it's an important win. Who knows... it could lead to gaining contracts with other banks? In addition latest company update shows how DWS is increasingly winning more wk from Government. Does anyone have deeper pockets than govts?
