Yes, originally it was to be an expansion od the Demo plant. The original demo plant was to be 3,000tpa but got scaled back to 1000tpa. In hindsight they needed the 3000tpa for the demo plant to be profitable for being a going concern on its own. I think costs was the reason it was scaled back. The commercial 10,000tpa plant was to be built adjacent on the same signt however the costs of getting approvals and ptting services in place was going to prove too expensive hence the search for a new site.
I did ask DP at a past AGM what wa sto become of the demo plant once the commercial plant was running. Hos response was that it would be used for testing difefrent plyashes to optimise the operation of the 10,000tpa plant and it would also be used to test Ni slags for the 100,000 tpa plant to optimise operation of that Malaysia plant.
