The SPP didn't need to come at the expense of Gina investing, why not both ?
Companies these days don't do SPP's because they need the cash, they usually raise enough from the placement.
SPPs are more for good PR and to make their smaller shareholders feel valued and included.

Do you think NAB needed the SPP's additional $500m when they had already raised $3b in a placement ?
Or did KGN do their $15m SPP for more money when they had already raised $100m in a placement ?
What about Z1P when they offered a $30m SPP even though they had just raised $120m in a placement ?

SPP's are rarely about money, and more about public image.
