Had to laugh at the wife's grandson the other day. The little scallywag is just starting to talk and he was pointing at the neighbor’s cat muttering something like akita, Well that starts me thinking about all things BRN.
I remember back at last year's AGM when Peter put up his slides arguing that he could see the time coming when a cluster of Akida chips would be all that was needed in autonomous vehicles and overcome the problems of GPU's. And it was with some surprise that in the Aug webinar, Louis poured cold water on these statements by Peter saying that it's right, Akida could replace the GPU but that's far in the future.
A good example perhaps of LDN reigning in shareholder expectations about the NSoC.
Then came the September Announcement providing details of Akida's architecture. With the HS chip to chip interface it was clear that our new IC could be ganged together with lots of other Akida IC's to make up one mother of all superneuromorphic SOCs. The Announcement said that this multichip expansion with efficient connectivity with each neural processor using a global spike bus was expandable to 1.2 Billion neurons.
Louis again reigned in shareholder expectations when a question came up in the last webinar. Here's what he said
“ There was one question about when you do that and we've talked about the way the Akida devices architectured, you could gang a thousand of these things together, and you'd have an incredibly powerful spiking neural network. Whether that's practical or not, it really does work. You'd gang them together and you just pick up all the new neurons and you'd pick up all the new synapse and the architecture would work as one chip. Let's move forward.”
Whether or not this is a good example of Louis keeping our expectations moderated, it was disappointing that in the following slide which accompanied the Akida Architecture presentation there was no big deal made about this incredibly powerful spiking neural network.
Who knows maybe the wife's grandson's a genius.
