They're already well paid for what they do. Many others in the private sector are not receiving any pay increases, and there've been substantial numbers in hospitality, tourism and aviation/surface transport affected with lower earnings, especially if part time or casual.
This relatively small group of unionists have a record of holding Australia to ransom, so the more automation that's installed at the ports, the better.
