Evening Kota.
Honestly.. the sector is indeed oversold, but.... I won't even mention whether its the actual bottom
Suffice to say, I am honestly fully invested. Bargain aplenty for businesses that are going to continue to make excellent margins, whilst having no debt etc etc. It's the cleanest sector in... the world. Even though there are other sectors that are making great margins too (some oilers, coal etc), but... they are IMHO still more risky (if that can be said about the gold sector).
Suffice to say, it all depends on your risk Tolerance. I also, will mention what I hold (not a recommendation). Also, this is only producers. Developers and explorers are quite different, although in some ways, can hold less risk up until commissioning their projects (if they ever get there!)
(% of my portfolio approx)(Ranked in terms of low risk to higher risk- but not.. potential upside). Capital protection is my first goal, then appreciation...
I also like yield, though from what I gather on HC, its not the main focus for many, even though I not overly old in the tooth, I just like to see some injection of cash each year, allows me to to slowly build my holdings, with trading.
NST (8%)
RRL (3%)
RMS (16%)
WGX (5%)
GCY (8%)
CMM (4%)
PRU (10%)
WAF (18%)
EMR (4%)
(76% total)
There are many other producers (that I do not hold), but.. I have tried to have a spread between W.A (Western Aust) and..... W.A (West Africa)
NCM is likely the lowest risk in the sector, but... just not enough upside for (at least when compared to NST)
SLR looking ok, albeit, the market is very unimpressed of recent times.
There is myriad of other reasons that I hold some more over others; management, recent share price moves, mine life etc, but... as you mention, DYO and well.... read others thoughts, try and play devils advocate, lower your expectations, as rarely do they get met, or beaten, except violent moves in the share price, when you least expect it.
Good luck with your investing. Funny how sentiment can be so low in a sector, when its doing well, but.... there it is.
