I don't think hydrogen will ever play a meaningful role in the energy transition.
Why would you replace a combustible engine vehicle with hydrogen when you can have battery vehicles?
Hydrogen infrastructure (production, transport and distribution) is very expensive and inefficient.
The process delivers only 60% of the energy original put in to the end consumer while batteries deliver almost 100% of the original energy that everyone can produce themselves.
Every car/truck can be charged overnight while you need to go to a hydrogen station to fill up the vehicle. I believe hydrogen stations can only store enough hydrogen to fill up hundred or so cars.
Hydrogen is just a scam in my opinion so that energy supply can be controlled by multinationals.
The future is clearly batteries and currently it looks like that Lithium will be used in batteries far into the future.
