Tevolo you totally miss the strategic significance of the BLJV HRE initiative, it is only "strategic" as one part of a total US magnet supply chain as outlined in the original RFI, the funding for this stage is relatively minor and very secondary to the overarching objective.
That objective, a commercially viable US magnet industry, can only be achieved by creating a level playing field with Chinese State subsidised NdFeB imports via a tariff broadly equivalent to China's domestically refunded VAT.
With the needs of the Japanese (ROW) magnet industry paramount Lynas will have a limited window for the US to get the big picture together and need to pull the HRE project back to LAMP as there are disadvantages in Texas if the project is not part of the whole.
Once again US appears to have reverted to the decade long rhetoric over "wot's in the ground" layered with self interest & snouts in the trough.
