There’s no indication that Alkane have any intention of a full takeover here. The real predator is still SBM. Every new presentation or conference call from SBM mentions more about a potential ‘district processing hub’ and more ore sources. They’ve even mentioned an expansion of Gwalia for lower grade ore sources (which would help with Kookynie ore).
In the next month or two SBM needs to make a call on what its strategy is for Gwalia. The SBM share price is getting punished partly because of the Gwalia uncertainty. To me it looks like the time for them to act and GMD is the easiest option.
