Telstra Air is part of a world wifi network managed by FON. FON has been around for 10 years and has the ability to turn anyones broadband connection (and spare download capacity) into a wifi network.
Interesting part about FONs model is that users can generate revenue themselves if they allow peers to use their wifi connection
