Chinese FeSi smelters closing small furnaces to balance supply and demand
In response to softening domestic demand major Chinese ferrosilicon producers in Inner Mongolia have been taking their small, inefficient furnaces offline. Total production could be reduced as much as 30,000 mtpm which is small considering total capacity but the producers would rather cut capacity than price.
