Absolutely agree debtors under control should be 101 but in business particularly ones expanding at a rapid rate, often becomes challenging. You think it’s a good idea to outsource as it’s not a value add activity and then all of a sudden you lose control. I’m more impressed how much humility Jan had when talking about it all. The best I can ask for is you learn and course correct. I thought Jan did a fantastic job of talking to it all. Sure it should be 101 but the amount of companies that stuff it up is huge. Companies often fall over because they fail to address collections.
Hiring a new ceo takes time, to expect an update on this would be premature. I’d say DW is comfortable with the stand in so why rush any process.
My view was actually quite the opposite. Whilst no new messages, the way the team talks rather candidly and authentically instilled confidence. The amount of scripted answers and reading off paper you often get from management teams is much more the norm. The fact this team can talk with confidence about their respective areas of expertise just clarifies any concerns on any bumps in the road. I don’t expect my management team and board to be absolutely perfect but I do expect learnings when things don’t go to plan - as an overarching theme.
