If it was fully cased they can perforate at any point and then use various flushes and treatments to get , retain or increase productivity. They could also have done sidetrack and cored if they were unsure of structure or believed they had "damaged" structure with drilling fluids. Lots of options for workover / completing crews who will have better knowledge of exact geology depths from cutting from original drills etc.
