TBH I dont think theres much material change in verbiage. Its more that they dropped the negative preface - given that they're engaging in discussions now, it would be rude and unprofessional to maintain the original dismissive tone until anything is firmed up further.
If you take a positive view, the removal of negative language could be seen as the BMN board warming to the offer (given that theyre going to be kept on anyway). Theyre probably working out how to make sure their $2 options are worth something.
