Since the deal was announced the only new information management allude to is the 3 wells they have just drilled and seen them flow for 11 days prior to "walking away from the deal". Does that sound prudent? I personally don't think this explains what went on behind closed doors in discussions with the buyer.
You mention the AUT takeover. AUT is getting taken over at a multiple of $114k per flowing barrel (ie. per boepd). At current share prices AZZ is trading at >$200k per flowing barrel. SEA is trading at $75k/boepd and RFE is trading at $45k per boepd. All of these companies have bigger acreage bigger drilling inventories than AZZ and all of them are better capitalised than AZZ
