One way to think about the opportunity at Woodline is to look at the current prospectivity of Lady Ilse in NSW owned by Magmatic.

Gold Fields spent $14m on exploration in central NSW in a similar geological setting to the Cadia Valley mines operated by Newcrest. Gold Fields were also looking for a big target. They did identify over 60 targets but in the end sold the projects onto Magmatic. It was the discovery at Boda by Alkane that highlighted the opportunity for Magmatic at nearby Lady Ilse for a lookalike of Boda which is a lookalike of East Cadia. All of this is happening in real time.

Back to Nelson. The Sipa-Newmont joint venture spent $14m in exploring for a lookalike Tropicana. They did identify the Grindall-Redmill-Harvey footprint at Woodline but in the end Newmont went home and nobody else wanted it so it was relinquished.

So what is the connection? Sometimes big name gold majors find nothing but create a database for others with a fresh perspective, new technology or better luck to go back over the same ground and make the discovery hole. Is there a Tropicana lookalike at Woodline? All we know is that Nelson is looking for a discovery that would attract the interest of a Newmont or AngloGold Ashanti (owner of Tropicana).

The presentation by Adam Schofield a the recent NWR Virtual Resources Conference would be a good place to start to research your questions.
